A) The dermal or protective tissue
❖ This is the system forming the outer protective covering the plant. It is represented by
the epidermis in the 1ry plant body, being replaced by periderm forming the new
protective tissue when 2ry growth starts.

1 : Protoderm: a thin outer layer of the meristem in embryos and growing points of
roots and stems, which gives rise to the epidermis.
