                     Hydrolysis

                 • Acid hydrolysis of Salicin gives glucose and a phenolic ether called saliretin which is a
condensation product of two molecules of saligenin
                 • Oxidation of saligenin gives salicylic acid, and this accounts for the medicinal value of
                     salicin.

                 • Salicyl alcohol metabolized as salicylic acid which is the active component of aspirin
                     (acetylsalicylic acid)…. Aspirin????

                                                          Coniferin

I s both an alcoholic or a phenolic glycoside.

Source: family Coniferae (pine tree ربونص).
