Chemical test
Boil about 0.1 gm of powdered Ammi visnaga with 5 ml. of water for minute,
filter, add 1 or 2 drops of the filtrate to 1 ml. of sodium hydroxide solution 1: 1 and
shake, a rose red color is produced within 2 minutes.

Uses
1. The drug relaxes smooth muscles and lowers the tonicity of the ureter so;
it is used to ease the passage of kidney calculi.
2. Ammi visnaga is a potent coronary vasodilator and has been used as a
remedy for angina pectoris and bronchial asthma, but it has undesirable side
effects.
