2. CREW

2.1. MANNING REQUIREMENTS

Operations :
Minimum manning requirements shall be a
compliment of 6 persons, comprising of:
• 1 x Coxswain – Class 1
• 1 x Helmsman (Trainee Coxswain)
• 1 x Navigator
• 1 x Bosun
• 2 x Deck Crew

The number of persons on board is not to
supersede the vessels LGSC under normal
operation conditions.

Survivor Capacity: The rescue vessel is capa-
ble of carrying 23 survivors on the aft deck,
inside the forward cabin and wheelhouse, with
a crew of 6.

Non Operations/Training:
Minimum manning requirements shall be a
complement of 4 persons, comprising of:
• 1 x Coxswain – Class 1
• 1 x Bosun
• 2 x Deck Crew

The maximum to be carried for non-operational and training purposes is 10 persons - to be deter-
mined by the Coxswain, based on sea state and nature of the training.

2.2. PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT (PPE)

All crew on board the vessel shall don, or have available to them, the following PPE:
• Sea Rescue Jumpsuit (Donned)
• Closed shoes (Donned)
• Viking inflatable life jacket fitted, with an AIS Personal Locating Beacon (AIS PLB) (Donned)
• Foul-weather gear
• Helmet

In the case of a Rescue Swimmer (RS), the following PPE should be donned or be available to
them:
• Personal Flotation Device (PFD) fitted with an AIS Personal Locating Beacon (AIS PLB) (Donned)
• Foul-weather gear
• Helmet
• Gloves
