COMMUNICABLE DISEASES (T.B)
2. Environmental control measures: Reduce concentration of infectious
droplet nuclei through the following technologies:
- Natural ventilation: open windows and doors
- Mechanical ventilation: as fans and air conditioning to circulate and
move air in the building
- Local exhaust ventilation for cough-inducing and aerosol generating
procedures
- Airborne Infection Isolation (AII) Room: use the negative pressure
inside the room to control air follow
- High Efficiency Particulate Air (HEPA) filter
- Ultraviolet germicidal irradiation (UVGI)
3. Use of respiratory protection equipment: reduce the risk of exposure
to TB bacteria by use of respiratory protective equipment (use
particulate respirators) and train health-care workers on them. In
addition, educate patients on respiratory hygiene and the importance
of covering their cough
Chain of Infection
Chain of infection is a model describes the sequence of infection occurs.
The agent leaves its reservoir or host through a portal of exit, is
conveyed by some mode of transmission and enters through an
appropriate portal of entry to infect a susceptible host.
