Q&A with
Lorna Libbet
& Earl Vaults
Question 1. How did you get started in the Music Industry?
Lorna Libbett:
I was born into a Extremely Large Musically Creative Family environment, and I grew up near and
around the Motor City and Motown, I played with and listened to stacks and stacks of Vinyl 78’s and
45 Records, along with the old Record Players, the Spindles that kept the Records in place and the
Needles that helped produce the sounds while the Records were Spinning. I was a toddler when the
first song I learned to sing was the Popular Singing Groups “Temptations” “My Girl” my cousin and
her teen age friends made the mistake of letting me sing into a microphone and recorded me singing
on an old tape recorder, they tried to find ways to keep me from singing (but it was too late)!!!!
Earl Vaults:
I started my (Musical Journey ) in
Portsmouth Virginia at the age of 11 years
old, I began playing Tenor Saxophone in the
Public School Band on a Saxophone my
Grandfather bought me.
I performed continuously all the way from
grade school through my high school years,
after graduating from High School I went to
San Diego State University where I obtained
my Bachelors Degree and Formal Training in
Music. From (1982-2003) I work with
Musical Greats such as: Barry White, Ike
Turner, The Manhattans. Sugar Rayford
Blues Band. In 2015 I Formed a Gospel Band
called “New Vision of Praise”, and we are
currently performing today in 2021.
