Poze Magazine Liz develops a special bond with Paul, a
student wise beyond his years. How did you and your co-
star build that on-screen connection?
Nakia Burrise Liz and Paul’s connection felt effortlessly
authentic. Jackson, who played Paul, truly embodied the
character, bringing him to life with sincerity. Every scene
flowed naturally, straight from the heart.
Poze Magazine What was one of the most memorable
moments from filming Back to Bridgewood?
Nakia Burrise Being on set and watching my script come
to life before my eyes was an incredible experience. Seeing
the characters take shape, the story unfold, and sharing
moments of laughter, improvisation, and deep character
exploration was beyond fulfilling.
Poze Magazine The movie has already received multiple
award nominations and wins. How does it feel to see the Poze Magazine What do you hope audiences take away
film being recognized in such a big way? from this film?
Nakia Burrise The recognition my film has received has Nakia Burrise Ultimately, I want the audience to leave
been incredibly rewarding, validating, and humbling. I’m feeling uplifted, inspired, and thoroughly entertained. More
truly honored. than that, I hope they gain a sense of hope and resilience—
understanding that setbacks aren’t the end, but stepping
stones to something greater that God has in store for them. I
want them to trust the journey, believe in their purpose, and
know that their life holds true meaning.
Poze Magazine Many aspiring actors face challenges in their
careers, just like Liz. What advice would you give to those
chasing their dreams in Hollywood?
Nakia Burrise The entertainment industry is not for the faint
of heart. You need resilience and thick skin because you’ll
likely face more rejections than approvals. But if God has
called you to this path, He is faithful to see you through. When
God says yes, no amount of no’s can stand in the way. Stay
confident, keep your head high, and walk boldly in your
purpose.
Poze Magazine Beyond Back to Bridgewood, do you have
any upcoming projects or exciting plans you’d like to share?
I’m currently developing a comic book series, The Never Never
Kids, which I plan to adapt into a television series.
Premise: Set in 1995, the small town of Roseville, New Jersey,
is shaken by the mysterious disappearances of local children.
Nakia Burrise A group of pre-teen outcasts, known as the
Never Never Kids, unknowingly hold the key to stopping an
intergalactic force of evil determined to destroy life as we
know it.
