Located at the western gateway to the Sperrin Mountains and six miles from Omagh, Gortin Glen Forest Park offers a variety of walking trails to explore this autumn. The Park Trail, Nature Trail, Pollan Trail, Ladies View Trail and Mullaghcarn Trail provide a range of habitats and points of interest along the way including the deer enclosure, diverse woodland and panoramic views over the countryside.
With a brand new playpark for the kids, picnic tables and facilities available, this park nestled in the Sperrin Mountains makes for a wonderful autumn day out.
A 5 mile scenic drive through the forest also offers magnificent views.
Castle Ward,
Co. Down
This unique 18th Century National Trust property that overlooks Strangford Lough is particularly outstanding in autumn when the estate is awash with vibrant seasonal colours. There are plenty of walking routes to choose from including the Castle Trail, Farm Trail, Shore Trail and the longer Boundary Trail that stretches 8 miles! Castle Ward is also home to many filming locations of Game of Thrones.
Along the farm trail, make your way off the track to the Lime Tree Walk where you can experience a stroll through the canopy of trees and leaves that have turned golden in autumn. You will need to book your visit in advance via www.nationaltrust.org.uk/castle-ward
