Glenariff Forest Park, Co. Antrim
Glenariff Forest Park, known as the Queen of the Glens, covers over 1,000 hectares of woodland, lakes and conservation areas. There are a range of walking trails to explore including the Rainbow Trail, Scenic Trail, Viewpoint Trail and the Waterfall Walk Trail. To reach Glenariff’s three waterfalls simply follow the timber boardwalk through the Nature Reserve and take in all the sights and sounds of the diverse river gorge in Autumn.
Stop off for a bite to eat at the Glenariff Tea House with stunning views across the glen to the sea, or pay local restaurant Laragh Lodge a visit which is situated at the bottom of the forest park against a backdrop of cascading waterfalls.
Ness, Ervey Woods & Burntollet,
Co. Derry
Located in the Burntollet Valley in Killaloo, this area of woodland is made up of the Ness Country Park, Ervey Woods and Burntollet Woods. Ness Woods, known for having the highest waterfall in Northern Ireland, is a wooded glen with woodland paths and is home to many species of wildlife. Follow the path along the Burntollet River until you reach the Ness waterfall.
The Ervey Woods makes for an enjoyable walk, and thanks to recent development work the walk now extends along both sides of the Burntollet River joining the Ness and Ervey Woods. With over a mile of pathways, the Burntollet Wood is a wonderful place to explore and take in the sights of a maturing woodland.
