Lagan Meadows,
Belfast
Situated in the heart of South Belfast is Lagan Meadows, an area covering 2.2 miles of peaceful countryside with wildlife habitats amongst the grasslands, meadows and woodland. This route has several scenic walks whichjointheLaganTowpathandrun alongside the River Lagan and makes for the perfect opportunity to explore the local Nature Reserve of the Lagan Valley.
Enter the reserve via the kissing gate at Knightsbridge Park and follow the path along to Lester’s Dam. Look out for the changing colours of the Oak and Cedar trees which dominate the landscape at the Morelands Meadow within the reserve.
The Lagan Meadows has been awarded the Green Flag Award every year from 2013 to 2019 which recognises the best open spaces in the UK. This walk will soon have you forgetting you are in the city!
