Introduction
This Drone Pilot Ground School course will
prepare you for the initial FAA written
knowledge test. The score earned on the FAA
written knowledge test will go towards you
earning your Remote Pilot Certificate. The
Remote Pilot Certificate is a license to operate a
small unmanned aircraft system (sUARS) rating
under 14 CFR Part 107.
Who is eligible to take the FAA Knowledge Test:
o Be at least 16 years old
o Be able to read, speak and write and understand the english language,
o Be in physical and mental condition that would not interfere with the safe operation of a
sUAS. The FAA will review exceptions for medical reasons. Go to the FAA website for
more information regarding medical exceptions for a remote pilots sUAS certication.
o Fulfill training and testing requirements as outlined in the 14 CFR Part 107 FAA
requirements.
o Must pass the FAA Knowledge Test. This will require a FAA Tracking Number (FTN)
by creating an outline IACRA (Integrated Airman Certification and Rating Application).
o You must take the FAA Knowledge Test every 24moths to maintain an your certification
as a sUAS remote pilot..
Types of pilots who would take The Knowledge Test, are:
1. First Type of Pilot – is a first time pilot; this would be their initial test
2. Second Type of Pilot – is a pilot with his remote pilot certification; required to renew
every 24 months. This is called a recurring test.
