Work experience and placements
In July, three students at different levels of their studies joined us here in Consett to get a taste of what it is like to work for a successful engineering business. One of them is me! My name is Alice Irving, and I will be working in the marketing department over the summer. I will be sharing information about my role shortly, but I also had a chance to catch up with fellow students Anton Fenyk and Hannah Jobling.
This is what Hannah who attends St Joseph's Catholic academy in Hebburn told me about her weeklong work experience at CAV.
Why did you choose to come to CAV?
I would like to work in engineering, and ideally be an aerospace engineer, so CAV was a good choice for me as I wanted to go somewhere that was in the sector.
What are you studying at school or university?
I am currently studying A-Level Physics, Maths and Psychology and I play the piano in my spare time. I have one more year of A-Levels to do, and I would like to go to University after I finish. Bath and Sheffield are my top picks!
What advice would you give to apprentices or people looking to work in engineering and aviation?
My advice is to reach out and see what the business has to offer. I reached out to lots of businesses, but CAV got back to me, and i was very exited to learn more about the business and what happens here.
What have you liked best about being at CAV?
During my work experience I worked across many parts of the business including CAV AT and with the design engineers. I particularly enjoyed the time i spent at Unit 1d this week as there was lost to learn and observe.
Everyone I have met at CAV have been very nice, always helpful and have helped me gain an abundance of knowledge.
