   INTERNATIONAL AIRSHOW
Farnborough International Airshow is a major bi-annual industry event but covid restrictions unfortunately meant the 2020 event was unable to go ahead, so its return was warmly received this year. The event also coincided with record temperatures as the UK was hit by heatwave, nevertheless thousands of visitors remained undeterred and the CAV team were delighted to once again be represented at the exhibition, which is a global platform for the aerospace and defence industry.
It was also the first time we have had our VSCI demonstrator on display. An exciting innovation, the demonstrator is a composite nacelle inlet assembly incorporating fluid anti-ice protection and an advanced erosion protection system.
The result of a collaborative project with Boeing, AMRC and Radius Aerospace, it was great to see so many people taking interest in it Farnborough, and catch up with our partners Anthony Stevenson from AMRC and Tim Wheeler from Boeing who popped by to see it in action.
Other innovations on show included our ice protection concept to prevent icing on the rotor blades of a sUAS or drone, which works by enabling Freezing Point Depressant fluid to be evenly distributed to the leading edges of a typical carbon fibre blade and has been successfully trialled on an Octocopter with 18- inch propellers.
In addition we took the opportunity to catch- up with suppliers, including Beagle Aircraft, and have renewed our contract with them to supply Hawker 125 skins. With numerous enquiries received at the event and interest from a number of parties, it was well worth attending and we are looking forward to the next event in 2024!
