CAV NATION AND AVIATION
How’s it looking out there?
All information from the General Aviation market continues to suggest continued growth. Customer meetings were held in June, with visits to both Cirrus and Diamond. Both are very positive in terms of their own future volumes, but also positive towards CAV’s delivery and quality performance.
With Boeing, their 787 deliveries are still suffering from their internal issues, so there is some uncertainty around future volumes, albeit those are definitely increasing from where we have come from in the last 12-18 months.
We are seeing continued and extended interest in CAV’s Systems from existing and new contacts, as the Urban Air Mobility sector in particular wakes up to the need for Ice Protection and the limited choices they have.
How’s it looking in here?
The Family Fun Day in Consett and team BBQ in Kansas allowed us all to join in our celebration of 80 years of TKS, as well as raising money for a very good cause.
Again, a great achievement in our output – we can now say that every month in the first half of 2022 has beaten our budget. Thank you all! Alongside this, the first stages of our re-organisation of our facilities has completed, with the presses and punch now relocated to Unit 1A and operational – again, a great effort by those involved.
Total order cover for the year now exceeds our initial budget, so we can expect to remain busy.
Farnborough International - the largest international airshow made a welcome return this summer. This was immediately followed by the EAA Airventure
show at Oshkosh in the US.
Both events are huge in the
  aviation calendar and it was
 great to have CAV represented
 at such prestigious events. As
you would expect our teams were
out in force and generated a
   lot of interest in CAV.

What do we need to focus on next?
Continue to deliver On Time and On Quality. In some cases we know our customers are struggling with other suppliers and their ability to ramp-up – we’re not one of the problems and are viewed as one of the more reliable partners. We just need to keep that reputation.
We are now starting to consider how best to use the space freed up in Unit 1, in preparation for further growth. Some of that growth will come from existing customers, but we also have many opportunities on the horizon, with multiple customer opportunities in work and new technology developments progressing nicely. On the latter, we flew our TKS equipped drone in the US during June, so are now looking at some refinements of that technology and planning towards some flights in icing conditions.
