    PEANESS
AT COBALT STUDIOS, NEWCASTLE
Meeting at Chester University, and forming in 2013, this trio, made up of Balla, Jess and Rach, have brought together their desire to escape small-town boredom with their unique DIY style of making music. Working together, they’ve developed a sunshine-laden melodic indie-pop sound that has an infectious energy to it. Having released their debut album ‘World Full of Worry’ through their own Totally Snick Records label in May this year, they’re heading out on tour this autumn to celebrate the album release, stopping off at Cobalt Studios in Newcastle on Saturday 15th October. THE HUNNA
+ KID KAPICHI + LUCY DEAKIN AT BOILER SHOP, NEWCASTLE
The Hunna’s rise to prominence in the UK’s music scene can be described as meteoric. They’re now one of England's biggest and fastest rising rock bands and they’re stopping off at Newcastle’s Boiler Shop on Thursday 27th October as part of their upcoming UK tour. After forming in 2015, they wasted no time starting their rise to success, having played Dot-to- Dot Festival, Leeds Festival and on the BBC Introducing Stage by the summer of 2016 with only two singles released. From there, they released their debut album - which charted and went gold - and embarked on their first headline tour in 2017 - and they’ve only been getting bigger since. Their debut album featured poppy vocals, warm indie guitars and a feel-good vibe that permeates your soul, which they claim is where a lot of their music comes from. However, their recent music, and especially their latest single ‘Trash’, flips this on its head, with heavy punky guitars and shouty vocals that make you want to rip your soul to shreds instead. Kid Kapichi (kapee-chee) will be supporting The Hunna on their tour, even headlining some of their dates in Bristol and Norwich. They’re soon to release their second album and have already made enough noise to play at Frank Carter’s (of Frank Carter and the Rattlesnakes) birthday party before joining him on tour, have an album recorded by Dom Craik (of Nothing But Thieves) and be praised by Liam Gallagher (whoever he is) on Twitter. Their music, like The Hunna’s, comes from the heart and tackles real issues, both personal and across the UK, with their most recent single ‘New England’ being their most explicitly political track yet, and a scathing takedown of everything the UK is at the moment. If Kid Kapichi reflects their heavier side, Lucy Deakin is there for their softer side. Inspired by Miley Cyrus and UPSAHL, she makes moody synth-pop with drum machines and groovy synth basslines, but the main attraction is her melodic and heartfelt lyrics. She was named as one of NME’s essential artists of 2021 and will be opening the night. The Hunna, Kid Kapichi and Lucy Deakin head to Boiler Shop, Newcastle on Thursday 27th October. ADAM BRACCHI

On Thursday 13th October, head on down to Bobiks where you can join multi-instrumentalist Francesca Pidgeon who will be celebrating the release of the debut album of her art-pop brainchild, Dilettante. After four years in the making, ‘Tantrum’ is finally ready to be shared with the world. The release features topics such as growing up, being disappointed in your findings and how you accept the life you live. Audience members can expect fuzzy guitar licks and five- part saxophone harmonies that will delight their mind and soul. GEORGINA SHINE
