                                    Experience Scotland%u2019s majestic lochs and glens on a fantastic rail holiday. Travel on the famous Jacobite train, cruise to colourful Tobermory and cross the Ardnamurchan Peninsula.7 DAYS from%u00a31,899ppDays 1-2. Edinburgh, the Kelpies and West Highland LineYour holiday begins in Edinburgh where you meet the Tour Manager at our central hotel. After checking in, you%u2019re at leisure to start exploring Scotland%u2019s capital before dinner. The heart of the city is a World Heritage site and, as you wander through atmospheric streets of great architecture, it%u2019s easy to see why Edinburgh is referred to as the %u2018Athens of the North%u2019. On Day 2 we head to the magnificent Kelpies by coach. These huge sculptures pay homage to the working horses that once pulled barges along canals and helped plough fields. Just down the road is the Falkirk Wheel, a unique rotating boat lift which connects the Forth & Clyde canal with the Union canal. We continue driving to Glasgow where we join the scenic West Highland Line, passing Loch Lomond and wild Rannoch Moor on this renowned rail journey to Fort William, a town on the shores of Lake Linnhe. At our hotel here, a guest speaker entertains us with local history and %u2018tales of the road to the Isles%u2019. Days 3-4. Loch Linnhe cruise & sailing to the Isle of MullWe visit Neptune%u2019s Staircase today, Scotland%u2019s longest staircase lock where there%u2019s time to take photos before continuing to Loch Linnhe. Our skipper provides commentary as we see Ben Nevis, the Caledonian Canal and Black Rock, also known as %u2018Seal Island%u2019. After the cruise, there%u2019s time to find lunch before returning to our hotel. On Day 4, we take the ferry from Oban for the crossing to the Isle of Mull. Drifting through small islands as we cross Loch Linnhe, the views of the rugged coastline are awe-inspiring. After docking at the port of Craignure, we take a scenic drive to Tobermory, the island%u2019s colourful capital. Famous for its fresh fish, you could enjoy a seafood lunch here. After a ferry to Kilchoan, we drive across the wild Ardnamurchan Peninsula to Fort William. The most westerly point in the British Isles, it is known as the %u2018Road to the Isles%u2019. We arrive at our hotel in time for dinner.Day 5. Crossing the Glenfinnan Viaduct on the Jacobite Steam Train We experience the final leg of the West Highland Line on the restored Jacobite Steam Train*. Boarding at Fort William, we discover why this journey is regarded as one of the most scenic in the world. A highlight comes as we cross the famous Glenfinnan Viaduct, that you may recognise from the %u2018Harry Potter%u2019 films. The train continues towards the coast, unveiling wild views across the vast Scottish countryside then the line descends towards Mallaig, a quaint fishing port that looks over the Isle of Skye. Along the picturesque harbour, there%u2019s a choice of local Scottish pubs that serve delicious seafood dishes as well as other traditional meals. With some time at leisure, you could enjoy lunch with a view before our return journey on the Jacobite. *On early/late season departures the Jacobite Steam Train excursion is replaced by the scheduled Scotrail service.Days 6-7. Edinburgh farewell dinner & homeward boundSaying goodbye to Fort William, we head back to Edinburgh by coach, passing endless hills and lochs. Once we%u2019ve settled back into Edinburgh, we enjoy our last evening in style. Sitting down in the Great Scots Hall at the Radisson Blu, we%u2019re served a wonderful Scottish banquet among traditional furnishings. Dinner is accompanied by time-honoured Scottish entertainment, creating the perfect farewell evening to your holiday. After breakfast on Day 8, your holiday in Edinburgh and the West Highlands comes to an end and you are free to head home, or you may wish to continue exploring independently.
