However, individuals who communicate and process differently and follow alternative developmental pathways may not be able to take part in standardised assessments, or the results may not be a true reflection of the child or young person. In this case, observing strengths and recognising differences such as being a Gestalt Language Processor is extremely important information to share. An explanation of gestalts may help other professionals in their understanding, so they do not underestimate or overestimate the child or young person%u2019s needs. Sharing the child or young person%u2019s %u2018GLP Observation Form%u2019 and/or an %u2018About Me%u2019 sheet and/or %u2018My Profile%u2019 (see page 70) with any necessary explanation such as the use of physical gestalts may be helpful when liaising with other professionals regarding assessment.7.7 RISK ASSESSMENTA child or young person with behaviour needs may have an individual risk assessment from their school or education provision, for accessing community-based activities. Remember, if a child or young person uses physical and/or verbal gestalts which could be misunderstood out in the community, record examples, explain on a risk assessment and make sure this information is shared with relevant agencies obtaining parental permission first.The result of monitoring behaviour using the ABC chart method may be that a referral to other professionals is necessary for:%u2022 Sleep advice%u2022 Diet advice%u2022 Occupational Therapy%u2022 Social care %u2013 respite%u2022 GPs and other medical professionals for diagnoses/medication%u2022 Social Emotional Mental Health %u2013 Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services.7.8 USING %u2018MY PROFILE%u2019 AS A BEHAVIOUR SUPPORT PLAN%u2022 If possible the child or young person should be included in drawing up a My Profile (see page 70) which needs to be regularly updated%u2022 This should include all positive behaviour strategies and any known triggers%u2022 My Profile can be a home/school/community shared document available for all involved.
