Across the school/college curriculum they may need to develop skills in analysing, evaluating and creating. In a literacy task when writing a story for example the supporting adult can:%u2022 Firstly, support and encourage them to ANALYSE. They may need to be supported by examining their story and checking it continues to be related to their idea and the story starter.%u2022 Secondly, support and encouragement to EVALUATE. Can they apply their opinion and judgement as to whether their story makes sense and the beginning, middle and end of the story are as they intended?%u2022 Thirdly, support and encouragement to CREATE. Can they imagine a scenario and be creative in their story and in the outcome?It is important to continue to support the understanding and use of vocabulary for these steps in higher order thinking. The child or young person may benefit from visuals to show the thinking and learning processes and to serve as visual reminders for independent learning.
