Cast
Elsie Koerner - Connie
Having been treading the boards in more years than she cares to remember (she can remember the sixties). Elsie has been performing in Plays, Pantos and active in Film and Television throughout this time.
This is Elsie’s 20th year with WBOS appearing in many shows, including roller skating and juggling across the stage. She received her long service medal from NODA during her last performance portraying “Rosie” in The Wedding Singer which won the Best Musical Award from NODA (National Operatic and Dramatic Association) which was a great achievement for WBOS. She is delighted to be playing the role of “Connie" in this production of Made In Dagenham who is “fighting for equality”. With such a superb cast this show will be a terrific “blast from the past“. She wishes everyone involved a great show, and once again thanks the audience for their continued support.
Stephen Mason - Hopkins
Professional optimist Stephen has been been involved with WBOS for nearly 30 years and throughout that time has become known as beacon of sunshine and positivity. His charisma and approachability are renowned across am-dram circles in the North East.
During his time as a performer he has developed a reputation as a talented character actor and played such diverse parts as; murderous farmer Jud Fry in Oklahoma, murderous hunter Gaston in Beauty and the Beast, murderous devil Daryl Van Horne in The Witches of Eastwick, and murderous thief Bill Sykes in Oliver (twice!). Will he kill again tonight? You’ll have to wait and see!
Sarah McKinnell - Sandra
Sarah is a Talent Acquisition Manager who loves singing & dancing outside of office life! It's her 2nd time performing with WBOS, following their last production of The Wedding Singer, playing flirty 'Holly'!
This seems to be a running theme...since her Dagenham character isn't shy either! She knows exactly how to have a good time, in the swinging 60s! Sarah can't wait to get back on stage again with such a brilliant all-round cast. She hopes you enjoy their funny, heartfelt, historical show as much as everyone did rehearsing it recently!
Some previous theatrical credits include: 'Mona/Lipschitz' in Chicago the Musical (The Exchange, Starlight), Maid/Dancer in My Fair Lady (Tyne Theatre, WEOS), 'Ilse' in Spring Awakening (UAL, Seedtime) & Singer/Dancer (The Show Team, Cyprus, Summer Season)
Russell Rafferty - Monty
Born in a time when everything seemed new, Russell was always inquisitive and developed a strong artistic lean, producing many a painting from a young age. This sedentary pastime suited Russell as he found himself allergic to exercise. Hopeful that the maxim 'you can't put on more than it weighs' would bear fruit, Russell has subsisted on meringue for a great part of his life with some predictable results. One unpredictable outcome was being asked to play the cannibal king in a panto, as they wanted someone that looked like they could conceivably eat people (see: results of meringue addiction, above) and sounded like Brian Blessed. Since then, Russell has had a few speaking roles in pantos, Curtains, Drowsy Chaperone (a favourite) among others. Remarkably, despite having the musical acumen of a disgruntled stoat, Russell has developed a fairly wide singing range and has been in Little Shop of Horrors and Caiaphas in Jesus Christ Superstar. Russell is quite unsure how this singing malarkey came about but is hopeful that it can be put to good use in the future.
