                Insurance information
Flat roofing has always been a problem area for home insurance companies. All homeowners with a flat roof must declare the areas of flat roofing to their home insurance provider, normally this results in higher premiums.
Experience has taught us that some insurance companies will not pay out for storm damage to a flat roof. Other companies will pay out if the roof is younger than five years old or in some cases seven years old.
With EPDM, we have found that some insurance companies will reduce premiums if EPDM is fitted to a flat roof by a reputable firm. This is based on the guarantees that come with a flat roof and how durable the material is. All EPDM flat roofing areas supplied and fitted by Findley Roofing and Building come with a guarantee of 10 years for the workmanship and 20 year BBA manufacturers' guarantee with over 50 year life expectancy. Ask your estimator about extended warranties and guarantees available with this product.

   Warning
The Roofing Competent Person Scheme will not issue a compliance certificate or insured backed warranty on non-part L compliant work. This essentially means all cold roofs do not carry a building regs certificate or underwritten guarantee.
As members of the Roofing Competent Person Scheme, all of our projects will be signed off as compliant within building regulations - including Part L. This section of the Building Regulation signals the correct and effective implementation of Energy Performance of Building Directive, which aims to reduce energy use in buildings. Part L’s focus is spent on the Conservation of Fuel and Power.
