GLOBEFEST
AT STOCKTON GLOBE
A show-stopping line-up of artists will head to Stockton Globe later this month for the eagerly awaited GLOBEfest, a free, interactive family festival celebrating the one-year anniversary of its opening. Included in the list of incredible artists announced to perform on the main stage are charismatic rapper and newly announced presenter of BBC Music Introducing Shakk; Amelia Coburn, with her distinctive fusion of folk, jazz, new-wave, classic rock and pop; three- piece, Latin-style acoustic band, Los Capitanes, playing and arranging an eclectic range of covers; and SHE!, a five-piece band show to celebrate some of the most inspiring pop and rock sheroes in music.Joining them on the main stage bill will be classy, dynamic and impressive, up-and-coming alt- pop artist Nadedja as well as We Tibetans, with their barn- storming brand of alternative indie rock. Also on the line-up are local Arc ukulele group Arculele, and Stockton’s own much- loved Frazer Lambert & The 1933 Choir. Performing on The LINK's stage (adjacent to The Globe) will be indie, folk singer- songwriter Joe Ramsey; singer Marina Gears; soulful, eighties- inspired balladeer Lost State of Dan; and female poetry collective Tees Women Poets, while creative production and dance company Urban Kaos, magician Andy Larmouth, and Stockton Riverside College will be bringing a variety of entertainment to the side stage. There are some amazing workshops confirmed for the day too including drumming with Apollo Arts, storytelling with Chris Bostock, as well as sessions focusing on singing, stage makeup, and puppet making. Sign-up for workshops is available on a first-come- first-served basis, with ticket holders able to make bookings closer to the date of the festival. GLOBEfest will also feature a range of street performers, picnics, a heritage cinema, face painting, treasure hunts, stalls and much more. The restoration of the Globe, which was built in 1935, was funded by Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council and a £4.5million grant from The National Lottery Heritage Fund’s Heritage Enterprise scheme, as well as a £774,000 grant from the Capital Kickstart Fund, part of the Government’s £1.57billion Culture Recovery Fund. The venue has already held a number of highly-prestigious shows, bringing the likes of McFly, Al Murray, Tyson Fury, Ronan Keating, Adam Ant, Diversity, UB40 and more to Stockton. LEE ALLCOCK
