    DAVE GORMAN
AT MIDDLESBROUGH TOWN HALL
Beloved comedian Dave Gorman will head to Middlesbrough Town Hall on Friday 11th November with his newest touring show ‘Powerpoint To The People’, a spiritual successor and sequel to previous tour, ‘With Great PowerPoint Comes Great Responsibility Point’, which spanned 2018 and 2019 on the back of considerable popular demand. This is no surprise, as Gorman’s various works across his career have regularly blossomed into cult phenomena, and fresh conceptual material from him is guaranteed to generate an effortless buzz among his sizeable and broad fan-base. Gorman is extensively decorated when it comes to conjuring humour from the most remote of minutiae. Having emerged as a writer and performer in the 1990s, his 2000 piece ‘Are You Dave Gorman?’ was a stratospheric breakthrough, the concept taking in both a book and stage show in displaying Gorman’s multidisciplinary talents, and forming the eventual basis for the TV outing ‘The Dave Gorman Collection’. Unfurling from the simple idea of attempting to track down other people named Dave Gorman, the organic, naturalistic basis of the show proved globe- trotting in Gorman’s engaging and hilarious hands, drawing significant acclaim in Australia and New York City as well as his native Britain. Equally formidable was the 2003 show and accompanying book ‘Dave Gorman’s Googlewhack Adventure’, solidifying his reputation as a decidedly offbeat but hugely entertaining comedic presence and, once again, attracting major international plaudits, as Gorman investigated the internet curiosity of Googlewhacks. While the aforementioned shows remain two of the most enduring achievements of Gorman’s career, he has remained very busy across radio, television and stage throughout the intervening years, characteristically diving headfirst into what seems like any source of intrigue which crosses his unconventional path. From 2013 to 2017 came five series of ‘Modern Life Is Goodish’, one of the most successful and popular original shows to be broadcast on channel Dave (no relation!). This was where Gorman birthed the option of channelling his comedy through PowerPoint presentations, a lingering association inspiring the titles of his
