DANCE
From the mind of socially-conscious choreographer Rhiannon Faith comes a new gritty dance theatre piece in Drowntown. Always striving to create content that raises awareness and lobbies for change, Faith uses this piece to ask audiences how we can champion an authentic sense of belonging for every person to try and help save them from drowning. This production centres around six strangers who come to visit a coastal land and each one is weighed down by their darkness. In a world where they are seemingly abandoned, they have no one to help but themselves. As they struggle with the remains of a broken community and the vast bleakness of the sea around them, they are faced with isolation, shame, and failed support systems. Combining gritty dance theatre with autobiographical testimonials and text, Drowntown holds up a mirror to a society at its tipping point whilst simultaneously giving a voice to the vulnerable and unheard. To visit the poignant world created within this performance, head to Dance City on Friday 4th November. GEORGINA SHINE
