Here, 'PASSIVE' means it is building plan and design oriented. Any deficiency in the planning and
at the design stage will definitely affect the architecture and the construction value of the building
during fire.
Specific fire hazards in Hospitals:
Let us take the case of recent incident occurred last month,
where a massive fire broke out at Hyderabad's Ankura
Hospital in Jyoti Nagar, near Gudimalkapur. The Ankura
Hospital Management issued a statement stating that, "The
terrace outdoor lights caught fire due to short-circuit". The
Fire Department was immediately informed to douse the
fire and the disaster management team showed their swift
& efficient response to tackle the fire incident. Their quick
actions were pivotal in reducing the impact. Finally the fire
was brought under control immediately.
Although the blaze was brought under control
immediately but some critical issues are emerged
out:
1. The building is an eight-storied one with three floors
from the ground functioning occupied for hospital
purpose. The terrace outdoor lights caught fire due to
short-circuit. First the flex board over the terrace caught
fire due to an alleged short circuit. Following a distress
call at 5.45 p.m., five fire tenders, from Langer Houz,
Rajendranagar, Assembly, Gowliguda, and Madhapur
