immediate measures were taken to extinguish fire,
when the fire brigade arrived at the scene of loss,
how the fire was fought, what apparatus were used,
what difficulties were experienced, availability of
water, time taken to extinguish fire etc.

The surveyor is also expected to give his comments on
the spread of fie and aggravation of loss due to presence
of combustible materials, openings in walls, floors etc.

To supplement the findings of the surveyor in regards to
the cause of loss, references made to the findings of
other independent agencies like chemical tests
conducted at the laboratories, meteorological reports,
police reports etc.

d. Description of damage - In this section, the condition
of the property separately for each item such as building
, machinery, etc immediately after the loss is described.
If the building is not totally destroyed, then the extent of

damage, that is, character and degree of damage,

whether a building is partly or wholly damaged, whether

any portion has been damaged by scorching, smoke or
