F. Decision Making
All managers, at all levels, irrespective of the jobs for which they are
responsible, are required to make decisions. A decision is necessary to plan the
job and at every stage of its implementation. Whether a new job has to be
entrusted to A or to B is a decision. A decision is a choice to be made. A choice
can be made only if there is more than one alternative to choose from. If there
are no alternatives, there is no choice to be made and therefore, no decision to
be made.
a) Programmed and non-programmed decisions
b) Futurity in decisions
c) Sloughing off the past
d) Planning is based on possibilities and probabilities
e) Planning makes adaptation easier
