Some of the peculiar features of the special provision
are as under :
This provides the concept of notional income of Rs.
15,000/- per annum for those who had no income.
Notional income of the spouse is determined at 1/3rd of
the income of the surviving spouse.
Maximum limit for medical expenses is Rs. 15,000/-
Fixed amount towards general damages.
Although the law provides the power to the Central
Government to amend the second schedule from time
to time keeping in view of the cost of living, but no such
changes had taken placer so far.

Ans. Vehicular victims can stake a claim for compensation
only in case the identity of the vehicle is known. But, a
vehicular victim cannot claim for compensation, in case
the identity of the vehicle is not known. Such cases are
otherwise known as 'hit and run' cases, where the
identity of the vehicle cannot be ascertained in spite of
reasonable efforts for the purpose.
