Chapter 14 Protection of Interest of Consumers
The objective of the Consumer Protection Act is to protect the
interests of consumers by providing for simple, speedy and
inexpensive settlement of consumer complaints / grievances.
Salient features of the COPA are:
✓ It covers all the goods & services.
✓ It is applicable to all the sectors
✓ It provides redressal machinery which is simple, speedy and
less expensive.
✓ The Act is in addition to the provisions of any other law
The Act envisages a three-tier quasi-judicial system of
redressal of complaints
