                      Wildlife Trust

‘To provide shelter, sustenance, education and medical care for
the orphans and foster families in the Mufindi district of
Tanzania, to curtail the spread of HIV/ AIDS, to teach life skills
(language, fiscal, vocation and self sufficiency), and to create
help and opportunities for future generations.’

In 2005, Foxes Wildlife and Community trust (FWCT) was set up by the family. This charity
tackles issue in three main fields: health, education and environmental/conservation projects.

Igoda village, Mufindi, home to the Foxes, was badly hit by the HIV/AIDs pandemic with 37-

44% of the population affected. With 40% of the children have lost at least one parent, FWCT
took steps to provide shelter and refuge for the increasing number of orphans. Subsequently,

healthcare clinics, schools and vocational centres have been built to increase the care received

          by all in local area.

          These are our current projects:

          • Provision of the care and treatment of HIV/AIDS at Mdabulo Counselling and
               Treatment Clinic.

          • Educating the villagers about HIV/AIDS which has seen a marked increase in numbers
               getting tested and treated.

          • Continuing improvements to care provision at the Children’s Village

          • Construction of a new day care centre

          • Construction of a clinic at the Children’s Village for a resident doctor, to serve the
               surrounding com-munities

          • Continuing support of the Milk Formula programme for infected mothers to prevent
transmission of HIV/AIDS to their babies.

          • Expansion of income generating projects - tree planting; horticulture; sewing and
carpentry schools, to provide a secure future for the community.
