HEAVENLY ANGELS
Angels are beings created by God to be his servants and glorify him. They are not to be worshipped,
prayed to, nor obeyed if what they say is against the Bible (only an evil angel would do this). God says in
Galatians 1:8, “But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we
have preached unto you, let him be accursed.” Angels are neither male nor female. God says in Matthew
22:30, “For in the resurrection they neither marry, nor are given in marriage, but are as the angels of God
in heaven.”
“Take heed that ye despise not one of these little ones; for I say unto you, That in heaven their angels do
always behold the face of my Father which is in heaven.” Matthew 18:10
“Thinkest thou that I cannot now pray to my Father, and he shall presently give me more than twelve le-
gions of angels?” Matthew 26:53
There are different types of heavenly angels:
Cherubims
Cherubims guard. They are described as having wings (Exodus 25:20). Cherubims guarded mankind
from accessing the tree of life after the fall of Adam and Eve. God says in Genesis 3:24, “So he drove out
the man; and he placed at the east of the garden of Eden Cherubims, and a flaming sword which turned
every way, to keep the way of the tree of life.” God dwells between the cherubims (Psalm 80:1; Psalm
99:1; 2 Kings 19:15).
Ezekiel saw cherubims under God (Ezekiel 10:1-20). Psalm 18:10 describes God as riding a cherub.
Cherubims placed on the temple wall were described as having two heads-the head of a man and the
head of a lion (Ezekiel 41:18-20).
