With winter well on its way, many of us will suffer with more stiffness, aches and pains
as the weather gets colder and the darker nights start drawing in.
Rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthritis may not react well to sudden weather or
atmospheric changes, which may worsen symptoms. Even without any specific
conditions, most of us are very aware of how our bodies feel and move when we are
cold; we may move slower and feel more tense and hunched up. This can result in an
increase in soreness we do not experience at other times of the year which can keep
you from doing the things that you enjoy.
Keep Active – do some form of physical activity to exercise your muscles and joints
Dress warmly – keep your body warm and protected from the elements.
Footwear - wear shoes that are waterproof and warm, and have good threads
Wear a warm hat - keeping your head warm reduces the amount of body heat loss.
Do not stay out in the cold for too long - if you work outside, move indoor during your
breaks if possible.
The winter months shouldn’t keep you indoors and in pain. If you would like help
minimise your aches and pains, give us a call on 01452 883232 today!
