Safeguarding
Thank-you to all those parents that have engaged in courses, webinars, PDF information files, explainer videos etc for the National Online Safety Programme. Over 400 of you have, which is excellent...it helps to keep our students safe online. We have now reached all the criteria/milestones to attain accreditation for a second year running and so we are now, officially a ‘verified’ Academy for 2020-21. If you have not yet used your free membership, please feel free to create yourself an account here: http://nationalonlinesafety.com/enrol/arnold-hill-academy. You can also download their free App from your Android store or iPhone App Store. This gives notifications on updates with new content added every week (Wake up Wednesdays).
We have just appointed a new safeguarding support Assistant, Jenny Brennan; this will help us to manage the increase in safeguarding referrals and liaison with external services. Jenny will be a real asset to the team. The Y10 student council supported the interviews, and their leadership and contribution were outstanding on the interview day.

Pastoral News
It has been fantastic to see all our students return to the Academy, we have been impressed by how quickly they have re-established routines and settled to face-to-face learning. Additionally, they have coped well with the demands of new aspects of the C19 risk assessment, including wearing face coverings in classrooms. Perhaps most impressive has been the mature way 1500+ conducted themselves in the registration and administration of over 4000 lateral flow tests! This was a logistical challenge for the Academy, but every student responded well and played their part to protect public health and prevent transmission.
We have commenced establishing other activities that are now permitted under the guidance provided by the Government’s easing of lockdown in their ‘roadmap’. We are providing some sports at lunchtime and after school in bubble areas. This has been well received by our students.
We continue to see very positive conduct around the site and in classrooms - 98% of recorded behaviours are positive. Can I just take this opportunity to remind parents/carers about the importance of good conduct whilst travelling to and from The Academy? All our students represent Arnold Hill in the community, especially when wearing the uniform. It is important everyone shows respect for residents. We continue to work with our Police Liaison Team and PC Randall where students are being anti-social or disrespectful in the wider community.
Can I please ask for parents/carers continued support with this? It is very important.
