It
It Came Upon A Midnight Clear
1. It came upon the midnight clear, That glorious song of old,
2. Still through the cloven skies they come With peaceful wings unfurled
3. For lo! The days are hastening on, By prophet bards foretold,
1. From angels bending near the earth To touch their harps of gold!
2. And still their heavenly music floats O’er all the weary world;
3. When, with the ever-circling years, Shall come the Age of Gold;
1. “Peace on the earth, good will to men,”
2. Above its sad and lowly plains
3. When peace shall over all the earth
1. From heaven’s all gracious King!
2. They bend on hovering wing.
3. Its ancient splendors fling,
1. The world in solemn stillness lay To hear the angels sing.
2. And ever o’er its Babel sounds The Blessed angels sing.
3. And all the world give back the song Which now the angels sing.
