The Honorable Barry E. Warhit is an Associate Justice of the Appellate
              Division, Second Judicial Department, having been appointed to this position
              on May 25, 2022 by Governor Kathy Hochul.  Justice Warhit was elected to
              the New York State Supreme Court in 2018 to a 14-year term commencing in
              2019.  He previously was appointed by Governor David Paterson in 2010 to
              the Westchester County Court and was elected to a 10-year term commencing

              in 2011.


              Justice Warhit was appointed in 2015 as Supervising Judge of the Superior
              Criminal Parts of the Ninth Judicial District and served in that position until

              becoming an Appellate Division Justice.


              He previously served as an Associate Justice of the Appellate Term of the New
              York State Supreme Court, Ninth and Tenth Districts of the Second
              Department from January 2022 through May 24, 2022.  He also served as the
              Acting Village Justice of Tarrytown from April 2006 through April 2010 and

              as Acting Judge of the Mount Vernon City Court and Yonkers City Court.


              Justice Warhit has lectured on numerous occasions to the members of the
              Westchester County Magistrates Association and to judges at the New York

              State Judicial Institute.


              Prior to his appointment to the Westchester County Court, Justice Warhit had
              fifteen years experience as a criminal defense attorney defending serious
              felony cases and trying sixty-two felony trials to verdict.  He also served as an

              Assistant District Attorney in the New York County District Attorney’s Office
              and was an associate attorney practicing civil law with two New York City law
              firms.


              Justice Warhit received his B.S. in Economics from the Wharton School of the

              University of Pennsylvania in 1978 and his J.D. from Duke University School
              of Law in 1981.
