D E WAGONS STRAWFLY

Sent to post at odds of nearly 12-1, D E Wagons Strawfly rewarded his backers with a 1/2-length victory in the $50,000 Zia 870 Championship-R at Ruidoso Downs on July 26.
D E Wagons Strawfly covered his 870-yard trip in :45.647 and earned a 96 speed index under jockey Adrian Ramos. The 6-year-old sorrel gelding is owned and trained by Tony Sedillo of Sunland Park, New Mexico.
The Zia 870 Championship marked D E Wagons Strawfly’s first out since October 26, when the geld- ing ran third in the $149,240 New Mexico Cup 870 Championship at Zia Park.
All told, D E Wagons Strawfly has won eight of 35 races and has banked $311,588.
D E Wagons Strawfly was bred by Mark Allen’s Double Eagle Ranch of Roswell, New Mexico. The gelding is out of Wagons Maiden, who won 6 stakes from 2001-03; her 3 graded stakes wins included the $180,830 Shue Fly Stakes-RG2. The mare has produced 9 winners from 13 starters, including
The Redd Zone who ran 3rd in the 2010 Rainbow Juvenile Invitational. D E Wagons Strawfly’s third dam, Merry Wagon, won the 1980 New Mexico State Fair Breeders’ Derby.
The 1-2 favorite, An Absolut Diamond (Ketel Won-The Millenium Star) ran second for his owners, Sandy Farris, Marc Jungers, and Lisa McMinn. The homebred 5-year-old gelding was ridden by G.R. Carter Jr. for trainer Justin Joiner.
Joan Dale Hubbard’s Storm Chasor (Attila’s Storm-Stardust Dash) finished third. Ruby Gonzalez rode the homebred 5-year-old gelding for trainer Todd Fincher.
Coronas Boy (Mr Houston-My First Corona), Kiss My Hennessy-TB (Roll Hennessy Roll-Dixie Kiss), and Royal Guardians (Sixes Royal-Earth Angel Baby) completed the order of finish.

Wood Be Charming was a prompt 2-1 favorite in the 400-yard $20,000 By By JJ Stakes for New Mexico-bred two year olds at Ruidoso Downs on July 25.
Ridden by four-time Champion Jockey Joe Badilla Jr., Wood Be Charming stopped the timer in :20.079, and her margin of victory was 1/2-length from Sic Em Sixes. Mike Joiner prepped the sorrel filly for owners Joe Dee Brooks, Scott Bryant, and Marc Jungers.
Wood Be Charming was a $37,000 buy at last year’s New Mexico-Bred Yearling Sale at Ruidoso Downs. The filly has won one of three races, and the $12,000 winner’s share of the By By JJ Stakes purse pushed her bankroll to $13,760.

Janis Murray’s MJ Farms at Veguita, New Mexico. The filly is a 1/2-sister to 2012 New Mexico Cup Futurity-RG2 winner Dashin Ace. Wood Be Charming is one of six winners from seven start- ers foaled by Ace Crystal Charm, a 12-year-old mare who won of the 2005 AQHA Texas Juvenile Challenge-G3 at Retama Park. Her second dam, Krissy Girl, won the 1990 San Juan Lassie Stakes at San Juan Downs near Farmington, New Mexico.

Under a well-timed ride from jockey Ricardo Aguirre, Jess A Hilbily Bone rallied to win the $20,000 Bobby Dan Crenshaw Memorial at Ruidoso
Downs on July 25.
Jess A Hilbily Bone went 1,000 yards in :53.395
while defeating odds-on favorite Unfettered TB by a neck. Tammy Kay Johnson prepped the homebred 4-year-old gelding for owner Rockin J Running Horses of Gatesville, Texas.
The Bobby Dan Crenshaw Memorial marked Jess A Hilbily Bone’s first career start at the 1,000- yard distance. The gelding, a $10,000 claimer during the 2014 Lone Star Park fall meet, has won five of 23 outs and has banked $51,078, of which $38,115 has been earned this season.
Jess A Hilbily Bone prepared for this race with a neck victory in an 870-yard $14,500 non-winners-of- four allowance race on June 27. His resume includes a third-place run in the 870-yard Zoetis Remington Park Distance Challenge Stakes-G3 on May 10.
Jess A Hibily Bone’s dam, winner Imaginiff,
has foaled two winners from three starters. Jess A Hibily Bone traces back to his fourth dam, two-time Champion Aged Mare Denim N Diamonds.
One of three Thoroughbreds in the six-horse field, Unfettered (Rockport Harbor-New York Jessica) is trained by Henry Dominguez for the Solitaire Stable. The Florida-bred multiple stakes winning 5-year-old horse was ridden in this race by Enrique Gomez.
Flyin Fish (Fishers Dash-Jazzing Cheree) ran third. Brayan Velazquez rode Flyin Fish for owners Tommy Galvez and Tony Sedillo, who also trains the 7-year-old multiple stakes winning gelding.
Never Afraid-TB (Swiss Yodeler-Scare Tactics), Got Inked (First Sign It-Wild Tat Too), and Malibu Colony-TB (Malibu Moon-Pashmina) completed the order of finish.
