MAXIMUMCOUNTRY

Maximum Country learned about racing this past spring at Remington Park and is putting it to good use at Fair Meadows. Second in his two
starts at Remington, the 2-year-old gelding won an allowance race at Fair Meadows in June and returned July 25 to capture the Cherokee Nation Stakes.
Drawn on the rail and ridden by Cody Smith, Maximum Country broke fourth. Senator Tamale veered inward from post three, but it didn’t affect Maximum Country’s concentration. He continued on, grabbing the lead quickly. He then had to duel with Hey Ho Alina to the wire, ultimately winning the 350-yard race by a neck in :17.803.
Jonathan Chavira trains Maximum Country for owner W. R. Ward, who bred the Cherokee Nation winner in Oklahoma. Maximum Country is out of winner Dashing Strawberry, dam of four winners.
Wendy Lynne Ingersoll’s homebred Hey Ho Alina (Tac It Like A Man-Thischicksnotrich) finished 2nd. Edgar Martinez rode the filly for trainer Dee Keener, Ingersoll’s husband. Hey Ho Alina began rac- ing at Remington, where she finished 3rd in a maiden race, and then broke her maiden at Fair Meadows.
Senator Tamale (Louisiana Senator-Real Hot Tamale), owned by Ellen Kennedy Racing LLC
and bred by the Ellen Kennedy Living Trust, ran third for trainer Luis Villafranco and jockey Mario Delgado. The gelding finished second and third in two starts at the Remington meet and fourth in two starts at Fair Meadows prior to the Cherokee Nation.
Rounding out the field were My Corona Sweetheart (Sweet First Down-Corona Lacey), Ivory Tasks Bay (Brookstone Bay-Ivory Task), Manachewa (PYC Paint Your Wagon-Like This Chick), Jess First Susie (Gold Medal Jess-First Move Susie), Arolla The Dice (Ivory James-Modice), Conistoga (Mighty Invictus-Style Secrets), and Thatza Fact Jack (Teller Cartel-Alluring Streak).

Mr Effortless Reign’s connections reaped the benefits from a disqualification in the $47,850 TQHA Futurity. When SS Missy Blue was set down
following interference at the end of an erratic run, Mr Effortless Reign was elevated to winner’s honors in the stakes held on July 19 at Gillespie County Fairground.
A two-year-old gelding owned by Damika Burton and purchased for $17,000 at the TQHA Yearling Sale, Mr Effortless Reign logged his second win in four career starts. The $16,748 payday from the TQHA Futurity improved his lifetime earnings to the cusp of $20,000 at $19,948.
SS Missy Blue was DQ’d after bearing out late, and the interference ruling moved her to an official finish of fourth. Meanwhile, Mr Effortless Reign made a steady run behind SS Missy Blue, finishing 3/4-lengths behind her. Trained by Clifton Detiege, Mr Effortless Reign completed the 350-yard event in :18.191, registering an 82 speed index while running into an 8 mph headwind. Ignacio Bustamante drew the riding assignment.
Scarlett Hill Farm, Inc., bred Mr Effortless Reign and owns his dam, Effortless Love, who has 15 starters from 16 offspring. Two members of the brood are stakes-placed, but Mr Effortless Reign is the first to tally a victory in stakes company.
The DQ moved Surviving Legend (PYC Paint Your Wagon-Surviving Success) to 2nd under Carlos Castro for Jose Rodriguez & trainer Vicente De Los Santos; and Miss Huerfanita (The Louisiana Cartel- Shes A Fast Jess) to 3rd under Damian Martinez for Jorge Haddad & trainer Brian Stroud. Followed by SS Missy Blue (Jess Louisiana Blue-Missy Toole), Zoomn Streak (Shazoom-Juanas Streak), Dee Dee Do Run Run (Ivory James-Runaway Dee Dee), Famous Winner (One Famous Eagle-Dreamy Winner), Ja Sweet Reason (Executive Menace-Sticky N Picky), Dashin On Bye (Dashin Bye-Toll On By) & Passin Bye Ya (Dashin Bye-Passin Proud).

Though bred in Texas, Spitting Snow has spent
his career racing in California and New Mexico. Now 7, the gelding joined the ranks of stakes win- ners with his first start in his native state. During the Gillespie County Fair meeting in Fredericksburg, Texas, Spitting Snow captured the July 4 Hill Country Dash Bonus Challenge.
Five faced the starter in the 440-yard event, with Spitting Snow sent away as the 6-5 favorite. Pursuit Of Duty jumped out to the early lead, but jockey Modesto Pina had Spitting Snow right with him. Spitting Snow soon took over, and he expanded his advantage to 1/2-length at the wire in :22.038.
Lorenzo Sanchez trains Spitting Snow for Jesus Rondan Jr., who began campaigning the gelding in 2014. Mitchell Ranch bred Spitting Snow in partner- ship with Burnett Ranch and raced him with Abraham Trading from 2010 through early 2012. Spitting Snow debuted at Ruidoso Downs in 2010 and spent most
of his first 3 seasons at Los Alamitos. He campaigned throughout New Mexico from the fall of 2012 through April of this year. Lifetime, he has won 11 of 31 races.
Perrys Spittin Image, a 2-time stakes winner at Los Alamitos, is the dam of Spitting Snow and three other starters and winners. The second dam, multiple stakes winner Lil Spit Curl, produced Grade 1 winner and sire Spit Curl Jess as well as stakes winner Lil Lickitee Spit.
James Gerhards trains and co-owns second-place Pursuit Of Duty (One Famous Eagle-Southern Fast Lady) with James Addkison. Santos Carrizales rode the 4-year-old gelding, who has won four races. Luis Vivanco piloted Iknow Heknows Iknow (Tres Seis- Dashing Patriot) to third for trainer Jose Camacho and owner Luis Plascencia. The owner claimed the 5-year-old gelding for $10,000 at Sam Houston in May. Teller Im Cute (Teller Cartel-Cash For Kas) and Pantache (Check Him Out-Dinastia Toll Brz) finished fourth and fifth, respectively.
