IM HOTT UR NOTT

m Hott Ur Nott won the $22,950 Merial Evergreen
Park Distaff Challenge on July 24 at Grande Prairie in Canada, and continued a win streak that has lasted nearly a year.
The five-year-old mare picked up her 11th victory in 19 lifetime starts, and also tallied her sixth consecutive win. That’s a streak that began
last August at Grande Prairie and has continued exclusively at Alberta tracks, with all the wins in this current run coming either at Evergreen Park or at Whoop Up Downs in Lethbridge.
Im Hott Ur Nott entered this race as the over- whelming betting favorite, going off at 2-5 odds at post time.
The mare lived up to those expectations with a dominant performance.
She broke on top from the 4-gate and promptly opened a 1-length lead by the time she reached the first call, doubling that advantage as she entered the stretch. Im Hott Ur Nott coasted from there, enjoy- ing a separation of 1 1/2-lengths as she hit the wire.
Ralph Danard owns Im Hott Ur Nott, who is trained by Laurie Ferguson. Jockey Trevor Simpson was aboard for the stakes-winning trip, which saw the mare complete the 400 yards in :20.126, register- ing a 95 speed index.
The victory produced an $11,507 payday that increased the lifetime earnings of Im Hott Ur Nott to $58,732. This win also earned her a spot in the Merial Distaff Challenge Championship, which is scheduled for Nov. 7 at Lone Star Park and has a guaranteed purse of $125,000.
Im Hott Ur Nott is the first stakes winner and most accomplished starter out of her dam. Wild California Rose is a 2005 mare with three total offspring. Dean Frey owns Wild California Rose and bred Im Hott Ur Nott.
Danard also co-owns runner-up Invisible Wagon (PYC Paint Your Wagon-A Troffe For Injun) along with G. Willis and S. Jeffery. Invisible Wagon, who is another Laurie Ferguson trainee, stumbled at the start and recovered quickly to take second. Danard had Larris Allen in the irons.
Bugle Hill Farm’s Wave Rocker (Wave Carver- Sheza Special Chick) took third. Kurt Calton is the trainer and Ricardo Moreno did the riding.
Stella Wave (Wave Carver-Special Corona), Tres Bubbles (Tres Seis-Bubbles La Jolla) and Awise Secret (No Secrets Here-Awise Lady) rounded out the order of finish. Tres Seis Smooches and Zoomin Daphne both scratched.
Bonnett & Brodon Futurity
SLS RIVER HIGH & TWO IF BY SEA
Iby John Moorehouse
t was a good day for Bugle Hill Farm and trainer
Kurt Calton. They produced the co-winners of the Bonnett & Broden Futurity, a $23,949 stakes held July 25 at Evergeen Park in Grande Prairie. Two If By Sea and SLS River High finished in a dead heat at the front of the field in this event. Both horses are owned by Bugle Hill Farm & trained by Calton.
The pair of two-year-old geldings completed
the 300-yard out in :15.901, generating an 87 speed index and dividing the winner’s share between them with each reaping a sum of $7,941.
They finished in a tie but it will go in the record book as the first stakes win for both horses. Two If By Sea enters black type and improves his overall record to four wins in five starts.
SLS River High, meanwhile, broke his maiden and became a stakes winner simultaneously—achiev- ing that double feat in the third start of his career.
Larris Allen was aboard Two If By Sea, who was bred by Lucas Racing Inc. out of Seaside, a stakes- placed 2007 mare who has foaled 10 total offspring, four of whom have made starts. Two If By Sea becomes the first member of the brood to distinguish himself in stakes company.
Shady Lane Stables bred SLS River High out of SLS Room To Zoom, a lightly-raced 2006 mare whom Shady Lane home-bred. Like his fellow race winner, SLS River High is the first offspring out of his dam to win a stakes competition. Adrian Gonzalez drew the riding assignment.
There was nearly a 3-way tie for the victory. Kiddys Down (Kiddy Up-Lets Get Going) finished a neck shy of the dead heat and settled for the 3rd-place share of the purse. Brian Weatherill owns Kiddys Down, an Allen Goodsell trainee who had Tyler Walker up.
Followed by Fiscal Fast (PYC Paint Your Wagon- Tres Seis Smooches), Enjoy The Corona (Stel Corona- Enjoy The Walk), Chaos On Tappanzee (Mighty Invictus-DM Maybe Special) and CR Fireball (Volcom- Long Gone Jenna Jean). Living Is Sweet scratched.
Jack Clifford Stakes
SNOWY GADDAFY
by John Moorehouse
S
Clifford Stakes on July 25 at Sacramento as a the 15-1 underdog.
Owned by Cuadra Mariscal, Snowy Gaddafy registered just his second victory in 13 lifetime starts, and the $11,050 payday more than doubled his prior career bankroll to $20,967.
Trips to the winner’s circle have been few and
far between for Snowy Gaddafy since he made his maiden start on August 18, 2013. The gelding had just the one prior win, and this result snapped a seven-race winless drought that dated back to August of 2014.
The Jack Clifford Stakes victory also marked the first stakes appearance for Snowy Gaddafy.
Although Snowy Gaddafy wasn’t expected to do much in the stakes final, the gelding went wire-to- wire when the gates opened.
Snowy Gaddafy broke on top from the 3-gate and ran in front the rest of the way, maintaining a slim lead by a head at every remaining call.
Jockey Silvio Amador did the riding, navigating Snowy Gaddafy over the 350 yards in :17.550 and clocking a career-best 106 speed index.
Adolfo Ortiz trains Snowy Gaddafy, who becomes the first stakes winner out of his dam, Snowy Memory. The 2002 mare won three of 14 outs as a competitor and, as a broodmare, she has foaled three offspring, two of whom have made starts to date.
Luis Mariscal owns Snowy Memory and bred Snowy Gaddafy.
Etelvina and Isaias Olmos own second-placed Primercartel, an Isauro Guillen trainee who had Pablo Flores in the irons. Primacartel has placed in multiple stakes events.
Lie Away (Ocean Runaway-Lace And Lies), the pre-race betting favorite at less than 5-2 odds, hit the board in third place for owner Joel Chavez Campos and trainer Miguel Gonzalez. Jesus Arriaga drew the riding assignment.
The remaining order of finish following the first 3 were Feature Dashnon (Feature Mr Jess-Dashnon), Runaway Corky (Ocean Runaway-Phobe Ryon), First Regal Choice (A Regal Choice-Dreaming First), Dontthrottlemystyle (Donttouchthethrottle- First Place Style), Carvers Cold (Wave Carver-
Burr Cold), Rarely Occurs (Stel Corona-Seldom Happens), Eddies Jazzin (TR Dasher-Jazzin Mandi) and Z Best Contender (Contend-Letterdash). One More Fire was scratched.
