This Fire Is Cold earned her first stakes win in the July 5, $35,000 Animas Stakes at SunRay Park. Racing for Armando Luis Moya of Houston, Texas, This Fire Is Cold covered 400 yards in :19.534. Alejandro Medellin rode the sorrel filly for trainer Ramon Rivera.
This Fire Is Cold has won three of 10 starts, and the $21,000 winner’s share of the Animas Stakes purse pushed her bankroll to $113,612.
This Fire Is Cold was a finalist in last year’s $2.6 million All American Futurity-G1 at Ruidoso Downs. The filly was given three months off and returned with a victory in a Sunland Park Winter Futurity-G3 trial on December 5.
“She’s really come back well since the time off,” said Rivera. “The rest did her a lot of good.”
This Fire Is Cold was bred by Los Ladrilleros Horse Racing Company of Houston. She is one of eight winners from nine starters foaled by This Snow Is Cold, a multiple Grade 1 winner. This Fire Is Cold is a 1/2-sister to This Corona Is Cold, who ran third in the 2010 Rainbow Futurity-G1.
El Damazo (Desirio-Invisible Streaker), the 7-10 favorite in the field of seven and the runner-up in the March 28 West Texas Derby-G3 at Sunland Park, finished second, 1-length behind This Fire Is Cold. Alonso Rivera rode the bay colt for owners Daniel Balderrama, Juan Castro, and Sergio Castro, and trainer Cynthia Gonzalez.
Isaac Balderama Ruiz’s Joy Of Corona (Stel Corona-Bring Me Joy) ran third. Jockey Jose Daniel Ruiz rode the California-bred gelding for trainer Esteban Ramirez.
Phenomenal Jess (Fantastic Corona Jr-Jess Crashin), Mi Sonador (Executive Menace- Sweetheart Dasher), BB Gentleman Jim (Dekalb- Casino Boss) and Speed McQueen (Dashair-Cha Ching Ka Ching) completed the order of finish.

Ill Stop The World ran his win streak to three with his victory in the $35,000 La Plata Stakes-G3 at SunRay Park on July 25.
Ridden by Esgar Ramirez for owner/trainer Alfredo Sanchez, Ill Stop The World stopped the timer in :19.439 for 400 yards.
The $21,000 winner’s share of the purse from the 5-year-old gelding’s first career stakes win pushed his earnings to $226,072.
“About four or five jumps after the start, I felt like he was giving me more,” said Ramirez. “I kept asking, and he kept coming.”
Raced exclusively in New Mexico, Ill Stop The World has won six of 19 outs.
His resume includes a second-place finish in the 2013 Ruidoso Derby-G1.
Ill Stop The World was bred in New Mexico by Ron and Kati Hanna of Edmond, Oklahoma. He is one of five winners from as many starters foaled by winner You Light Up My Life.
Ill Stop The World is a 1/2-brother to Greatful Heart, a finalist in the ’07 All American Futurity-G1.
“He’s been a real nice horse for us,” said Sanchez.

Stop The World. BP Takem Away was ridden by Hector Aldrete for owners Juan Hernandez and Luis Hernandez, who also trains the 4-year-old bay geld- ing. J. Martin Bourdieu rode Alis Jumpn, a multiple graded stakes winning 5-year-old mare, for owner Eloy Humberto Pena and trainer Adam Tapia.
TF Featured Effort (Feature Mr Jess-Meadow Creeks Effort), Fly Thru The Fire (Walk Thru Fire- Babe On The Fly), Jo Jo Hot Legs (Executive Menace- Casino Mill) and Celebrar (One Famous Eagle-First To Celebrate) completed the order of finish.

Thoroughbreds, led by the winner, Alsono, ran one-two in the 870-yard Marathon Handicap at SunRay Park on July 19.
Prepped by Justin Evans and ridden by Alfredo Juarez Jr. for owner Tony Pennington, Alsono went 870 yards in :44.432 while scoring his third victory in as many outs at the distance. The 4-year-old chestnut colt’s margin of victory was a neck from Chasing The Heat.
Alsono won the Marathon despite a less-than- perfect start. “I knew he was a little slow away from the gate, but I knew (on the turn) that he had a lot left,” said Juarez. “We got lucky when the rail opened up for us like it did.”
Alsono has won 11 of 22 starts and he has banked $329,271. The colt has won stakes at distances rang- ing from 870 yards to 1 mile, and he was coming off of a Downs at Albuquerque spring meet in which he won the 870-yard $55,000 Special Hank Handicap.
“He’s such a special horse,” said Evans. “I can run him at a lot of different distances, and he always gives me a top effort.”
Alsono was bred in Kentucky by Ann Marie Farm. The colt is a 1/2-brother to stakes winner Gig Harbor and is one of five winners from six starters foaled by winner Miss Blue Grass.
Chasing The Heat TB (Latent Heat-Chasing Lightning) races for Solitaire Stable and Lisa Dominguez. Enrique Gomez rode the 6-year-old gelding for trainer Henry Dominguez. Richard Ford’s Famous Edge Of Glory (One Famous Eagle-Shake Em Rita Ballou) ran third. The 4-year-old gelding ridden by Frank Reyes for trainer Lonnie Vaughn. Followed by Tres Primeros (Tres Seis-Docs First Card) Runaway Jeans (Volcom-Go Oppie), Fishin For Dough (Fishers Dash-Simply Groovy), Record Heat-TB (Southwestern Heat-Balcovy) & Miss Tessmocker (Hard Hitting-SM Whistle Britches).
