Rite Quick is excelling at short distances, and
he captured his first stakes win in the $18,000 Blink Of An Eye Handicap at Los Alamitos on Feb.
1. It was his fourth consecutive victory, following two 330-yard events and another 100-yard contest.
Riding for trainer Yanet Rodriguez, jockey Alberto Zepeda broke Rite Quick out of the gate speedily. They dashed home on top by a head, Rite Quick sent away the favorite.
He completed the 100 yards in :06.536, posting an 86 speed index. Rite Quick now has a race record of 13-4(1)-2-0 and a bank roll of $30,870.
Alberto Rosiles owns Rite Quick, and Dr. Steve Burns bred the grey gelding. Burns sold Rite Quick for $30,000 at the 2016 Los Alamitos Equine Sale to Valentin Zamudio, who trained Rite Quick for Rosiles early in the gelding’s career.
Rite Quick is out of Dashing Folly Handicap winner Iba Quick Chick, who was a runner-up in the Independence Day Handicap and a finalist in the Vandy’s Flash Handicap-G3. She has produced 100% money earners from six starters. Rite Quick is her first stakes winner and top earner.
Kiss N Air (Dashair-Kiss N Toll), ridden by Eddie Garcia, finished second. Jesus Nunez trains the 4-year-old filly for owner Kolleen Ledgerwood. Kiss N Air completed 2018 with a victory in allow- ance company. Jairo Rangel rode Snowy Coronitas (Count Corona-Snowy Memory) to third for owner Cuadra Mariscal and trainer Salvador Naranjo. A 7-year-old gelding, Snowy Coronitas won the 2016 Jack Clifford Stakes and Altamont Dash Stakes.
Rounding out the field were Jodee B Valiant (Mighty B Valiant-Jo Dee Chic), The Cartel Hawk (Corona Cartel-Hawk Three), Seems Even Better (Kiddy Up-Better Be Good), La Sierran (Stel Corona- Chickafirst) and Indie Anna (Jess Zoomin-Racing Streak). I Like Bux & Mr Desert Streak scratched.
