RYANSMANONTHEMOON

Ryansmanonthemoon notched his second stakes victory in the $85,000 NMHBA Stakes at Sunland Park on Feb. 16.
The gelding broke in fourth from the 8-post
under Mauro Salcedo and quickly moved to third. They grabbed the lead in the stretch, cross- ing the wire a neck in front. With a stiff tail wind, they completed the 400 yards in :18.942, posting a career-best 106 speed index.
Ryansmanonthemoon brought home the $51,000 winner’s share of the
purse for owners/breeders Jimmy Negrete & Jimmy Vasquez and trainer Cynthia Gonzalez, boosting his cumu- lative earnings to $193,917.
Prior to this win, Ryansmanonthemoon was victorious in the Shue Fly Stakes-RG3 earlier this year.
Negrete & Vasquez bred Ryansmanonthemoon out of
2014 Zia Futurity-RG1 winner Girlonthego. She was also fourth in the 2014 New Mexican Spring Fling-RG3. Girlonthego has produced 100% winners from two starters, including Cat Daddys Lil Girl, who was fourth last year’s New Mexican Spring Futurity-RG2 and a finalist in the Mountain Top Futurity-RG3.
“This horse is improving and maturing every out. He just keeps
getting better,” said trainer Cynthia Gonzalez. “He is a horse every trainer wants, he makes our team look good.
“Ryan is loving the long dis- tance, he can make up ground like you saw in the NMHBA,” she continued. “He slipped
the first jump away from there then, got bumped from the inside. He did what he does best after that, he wins.”
When asked about the future, the trainer said, “We
haven’t really decided if we will try the Ruidoso Derby or stay with the New Mexico Breeds. We will decide that later on.”
CD Mamas Boy (First Moonflash-Mama Rosa B) was second under Jesse Levario for owner Daniel A Ramirez and trainer Jimmy Guerra.
CD Flash And Fame (First Moonflash-Famous Phoebe) and Hector Aldrete were third for owner German Amaya & trainer Jimmy Guerra.
CM Rowdy James (Jessie James Jr-Christinas Crystal), Tooflashyforyou (First Moonflash-Holland Fire), Freedom Flash (First Moonflash-Mi Camila TB), J Gatsby (Jesse James Jr-Maggies Miracle LX), Easy Over The Moon (First Moonflash-Easeful Dinastia), Igotmybiggirljeanson (Big Daddy Cartel-Prada N Jeans) & Nevado Cartel (Big Daddy Cartel- Merry Merry Fast) completed the order of finish. A Major Corona was scratched.
