Corona Chick is the dam of 15 foals with 14 starters earning 13 ROM with four stakes winners. Her stakes winners include three Grade one winners: Corona Cartel, Corona Cash and Valiant Hero. Her fourth stakes winner was Corona Czech. Corona Cash won the All American Futurity-G1 and was 4 time racing Champion. The Corona Chick foals have earned over $3 million, earning her titles as an AQHA Dam of Distinction and the 1997 AQHA Broodmare of the Year title. Five Bar Cartel sired six stakes winners and that gives us a good place to start when reviewing his initial success as a sire. We can get a glimpse of the broodmare sires he has crossed with and see if we can see any other breeding patterns that may tell us about his success as a sire.
Amending The Bar earned $226,816 winning four of her six starts including
her big win in the Louisiana QHBA Sale Futurity-RG1. She was also a finalist in the Louisiana Champions Day Juvenile-RG2 finishing fourth and the Louisiana Bred Lassie Futurity-RG2 finishing sixth.
The dam of Amending The Bar is Making Amends by Raise A Secret, a mare that carries no Dash For Cash or First Down Dash. Her dam is Waymaker by Merridoc. The dam of Waymaker is Making Ways, a daughter of Separate Ways, the dam of the leading sire Separatist. This is the female family of the great mare Go Together.
Five Bar Cartel has a breeding pattern of 3X3 to First Down Dash and a breeding pattern to Dash For Cash of 4X4X5. So,
when we look at the pedigree of Amending The Bar, we see no Dash For Cash and no First Down Dash in her dam’s pedigree. This means that Making Amends is an outcross on these two great stallions in the pedigree of Five Bar Cartel. But, we do have an interesting blood affinity between Five Bar Cartel and Making Amends with Tiny’s Gay, as Amending The Bar has a breeding pattern of 5X4 to this great stallion.
