                                Juvenile Championship
LITELY POLITICAL
by Luis Prieto Zamudio, translation by Eduardo Silveyra
In the twilight of the 2016 season, the red bay filly Litely Political debuted in the Hipódromo de las Americas on Dec. 4,
winning her qualifying race to the Juvenile Championship with the best time of :17.16 for the 350 yards from a total of 37 contenders. From that moment on, many favored her to win the finals, although her inexperience in that type and level of race and the quality of the other competitors opened a path of doubt for many.
The mystery was cleared two weeks later when the team of the San Judas Tadeo Cuadra returned to the track with Litely Political, with José Manuel Rosado at the reins. The fans made her a favorite in the betting window at 2 to 1 odds. Another favorite was the very fast Agent Provocateur, winner of the Mexican Futurity and the AQHA Juvenile Challenge of Mexico.
In the Juvenile Championship, My Painted Wagon (#9) stumbled and affected his perfor- mance, but there were no clashes or interfer- ence between the 10 other two year olds. The race was clean, with a close duel between
the four leaders of the group. Litely Political (#8) finished at the head of the group with a difference of a neck over Louisiana Run (#3), with the same difference separating Louisiana Run from Tempting Splash Dash (#1), who occupied third place.
It took :17.30 seconds (95
speed index) for the daughter
of Apollitical Jess out of
Strobe Lite (by Stoli) to fin-
ish the race. She did not need
to improve over her previous
time in the trials to bring to
her account 42% of the total
purse of 1,850,900 pesos
($89,861 U.S. dollars), and she maintained a perfect record of 2 victories in as many starts.
Litely Political is owned by the Cuadra San Judas Tadeo, located in the State of Chiapas, which campaigns on several tracks of the Mexican southeast and which ended the year with this meritorious triumph. The filly was bred in the United States by Matt Dunn and sold for $12,000 at the 2015 Heritage Place Select Yearling Sale in Oklahoma. Rubén Romo García was the trainer responsible for saddling her for these commitments.
Louisiana Run (Louisiana Senator - Confidential Run) was second after making a great race under the guidance of Juan Carlos Alvarado for Cuadra Garañones and trainer Jose Luis Cruz. The grey filly comes from win- ning the Alfredo Castro Rea Classic.
In third place was the colt Tempting Splash Dash (Tempting Dash - Thebabeisback)
under the guidance of Mario Alberto López
Marmolejo for owner Cuadra Zamarrero and trainer Juan José Razo.
The other finalists crossed the finish line in the follow- ing order: Enthusiastique (Dominyan – Zenergy), Agent Provocateur (Walk Thru Fire – Favored),
Valentino Mystery (Mr Queens Mystery
– Valentina High), A Sweeping Triumph (Bedouin Cartel – Lusi), RG Connie My Love (High Rate Of Return – Note The Chick), My Painted Wagon (PYC Paint Your Wagon – My Girl Jessie) & Beer Wagon (PYC Paint Your Wagon – Fredaville).
