Henry Craig closed a busy 2016 season with
his third stakes win in the $26,550 Baxter Andruss Futurity for two year olds that qualified and
remained eligible at Portland Meadows on Dec. 21. Henry Craig led from the 3-gate under jockey Eduardo Gutierrez-Sosa, and the pair cut through the
foggy afternoon, looking best for much of the track and extending their lead to 1-1/2-lengths at the line. The pair finished the wire-to-wire victory on the 400- yard fast track in :20.054 to earn a 99 speed index.
Henry Craig earned his third stakes victory of an impressive 2-year-old season for owner Cedar Creek Tree Farm Ranch and Racing. He claimed the $10,620 winner’s share of the purse, raising his lifetime tally to $54,633. The gelding is trained by Hector Magallanes and won his Nov. 27 trial heat to qualify third to the finals.
Cedar Creek Tree Farm Ranch and Racing bred Henry Craig out of Grade 1 stakes placed winner Copa Show Girl. She has produced 100% money earners from 10 starters, including Far West Futurity winner Skold And Warnock, who won the Baxter Andruss Futurity in 2011. Henry Craig, who also won the Firecracker and Pot O’ Gold Futurities, is her top earner.
L Bar D Genuine Red (Genuine Strawfly-Be First Rose) finished second under Kassie Guglielmino. for owner Hillary Durham and trainer Robert Beckner. CM Woody Blue (Woodbridge-Cool Blue Corona) finished third under Luis Gonzalez. The bay gelding is owned by Randy Dickerson and trained by Nick Lowe.
Sir Runaway Isaac (Sir Runaway Dash-Cruisin For Curtis), Flyin Rocks (Fly Chisholm Fly-Rocks El Dorado TB), EZ Frosty Morn (Heza Fast Dash-Easy Verna), Siennas Sassy Boot (Spanish Boot-XX Me For Moolah), Jesses Claim Ta Fame (Jesse James Jr-One Fast Trick) and Zapata (Mighty Invictus- Miss Royal Rumble) completed the field. Jumpin Jock Flash scratched.
Harrah’s Dash Stakes
MISTER BIG

Mister Big kicked off 2017 with a win on open- ing day of the Louisiana Downs meet with
a 1/2-length victory in the $15,000 Harrah’s Dash
Stakes on Jan. 7.
Mister Big drew the inside 1-gate for this 250-
yard sprint, surpassing Scoopies Leaving You down the stretch to notch the sixth win of his career. Eusevio Huitron trains Mister Big, who finished the race in :13.238 for a 99 speed index with Damian Martinez aboard. Owner Hugo Morales banked a $9,000 payday, pushing the gelding’s total earnings to $239,390.
The success marked the fourth stakes win for the six-year-old gelding, whose signature triumph to date came in the 2014 Sam Houston Derby-G3.
Jerry Windham bred both Mister Big and his dam, 2-time winner Jess An Illusion. She has produced 11 starters, including top earner Jess Zoomin, who set a New Track Record for 350 yards at Remington Park, multiple stakes winner Seize The Win, and Texas Hi-Point 3-Year-Old Gelding Mister Big.
Scoopies Leaving You (Coronas Leaving You-Ms Scoopies Toast) finished second for owner Joel Galindo and trainer Kevin Broussard. Donald Watson did the riding.
Cartel Arrangement (Carters Cartel-Hawks Dancing Straw), an 11-1 longshot, hit the board in third for Humberto Amaro. The Javier Contreras trainee had Everardo Rodriguez aboard.
JW Divino Comento (First Comment-By Divine Right), One Dimple (One Famous Eagle-Dimples First Dash), Paloma Blanca B (Prospect To The Top-Sheza Lilbituino), Fly By You (Apollitical Jess-Fovee), Buxamillion (Zoomin For Bux-Royal Winning Colors), Coronas In Paradise (Coronas Leaving You-Secret Paradise) and Barefoot Beach (Ivory James-Babe On The Beach) completed the order of finish.
Marathon Stakes
EYESA SHOOFLY DANDY

The new year continues to be prosperous for Eyesa Shoofly Dandy with his victory in the $15,000 Marathon Stakes at Louisiana Downs on Jan. 7.
Prepped by Judd Kearl, AQHA’s leading trainer
in 2016, and ridden by Donell Blake, Eyesa Shoofly Dandy left little doubt in this one. The gelding opened a 2-length lead by the first call, widened the gap to 3-lengths as he entered the stretch, then coasted to a 1-length victory. Eyesa Shoofly Dandy completed the 870-yard trip in :46.516, earning an 89 speed index.
A six-year-old gelding, Eyesa Shoofly Dandy now holds nine wins in 22 starts, with three of those victories coming in stakes company. His most recent stakes win came last January in the Moonstone Stakes at Hialeah Park and he also won the 2015 Walter Merrick Memorial.
Curtis Smith and Steve A. Holt own Eyesa Shoofly Dandy, whose $9,000 prize pushed his total bankroll to $97,776.
Wesley Ann Anglin bred Eyesa Shoofly Dandy and home-bred his dam, Miss Sound Viking. She has produced 100% money earners from five starters, including CBS Chocoletgold, who finished 2nd in the 2014 Speedhorse Futurity-G2. Eyesa Shoofly Dandy is her top earner and first stakes winner.
Bet I Make U Famous (One Famous Eagle-Lone Bet) placed second under Alfonso Lujan for owners Vernon Harman and Robert Moudy, III and trainer Trey Ellis. Rakin In The Jax (Rakin In The Cash- Alcohol And Ambiance) took third under Lucas Constantin for owner Angela Dowden and trainer Jason Magnon.
Game Own (Game Patriot-My Own Fortune), Snowbound Cowboy (Snowbound TB-Strawberry Cartel), Apollitical Courage (Apollitical Jess-Quiet Courage) and Tempting Dashforcash (Tempting Dash-Allamericandreamgirl) completed the field. Summer Motion scratched.
