by Tracy Gantz
The 6-year-old Thoroughbred gelding Justamitch has spent his entire racing career at California tracks. Though he usually competes at about
the same distances, whether he is considered a sprinter or a router depends on where he races. At Thoroughbred tracks he is considered a sprinter, but at Los Alamitos he competes in 870-yard races with distance horses.
Usually racing in claiming events, Justamitch became a stakes winner in the Aug. 12 Truly A Pleasure Handicap. Breaking from the rail under jockey Christian Aragon, Justamitch rushed up in the first few strides and took the lead. He had a good margin going into the turn and extended it in the stretch, winning by 5 3/4-lengths in :44.640.
Salvador Naranjo trains Justamitch for owner Raul Mariscal. E-Racingcom bred Justamitch in California, crossing the mare Justawitch with the multiple stakes-winning stallion Onebadshark. E-Racingcom raced the sire and dam in partner- ship. Justawitch has produced two winners from three starters. The second dam, G. U. Senorita, was stakes-placed.
