One of the variables that seems to come up when looking at the All American Futurity is the diversity of
the people and horses involved in this great race. This year, our look back at the All American Futurity will feature races won by Go Dick Go (1966), Real Wind (1976), Ronas Ryon (1986), Streakin Flyer (1996), and No Secrets Here (2006), and will show the diversity in the winners who fulfilled their All American Dream.

When we think of Quarter Horse racing in Florida, we think of the Florida Quarter Horse Racing Association and their success with events like the winter meet at Hialeah Park. But, Quarter Horse racing in Florida has a long and deep history that goes back to the beginning of organized Quarter Racing in the 1940’s. One
of the horsemen to be a part of that history is Raymon Tucker, who was the breeder of the 1966 All American Futurity winner Go Dick Go.
Raymon Tucker was a cattleman and farmer from Bunnell, Florida, who raised
and raced Quarter Horses. Tucker was instrumental in getting legislative approval for Quarter Horse racing at the Florida Thoroughbred tracks that led to races like the Florida Quarter Horse Futurity.
It was a Florida line of horses that produced Go Dick Go, and it started with a horse named Kip. Kip would sire Adios Kip, who sired Little Dick Priest, the sire of Go Dick Go. Kip was a son of Pal O’ Mine, a full brother to Rialto P-2, who is the second horse listed in the AQHA
Stud Book that recognizes him as a modern Quarter Horse foundation sire. Pal O’ Mine and Rialto P-2 were sired by Billy Sunday by Horace H, a Thoroughbred. The dam of Billy Sunday was Carrie Nation, a daughter of Peter McCue.
Tucker sold Go Dick Go as a yearling to Joe V. Leitner of Tampa, Florida. He was trained
by Clarence V. Jay. Go Dick Go had a record
of two wins, three seconds, and one third in
six starts when he entered the All American Futurity. He had been second in the Kansas Futurity and third in the Rainbow Futurity. Leitner supplemented Go Dick Go to the All American trials for $13,000. He ran his trial in a time of :20.74, qualifying behind horses like Top Ladybug and Chickamona.
Top Ladybug was the richest horse going into the race and she was bet down to the .60 to 1 favorite in the race. The second betting choice was the field at 7.40 to 1, and that included Barbara 3, Bright Rebel, and Pana Lies. They had the field choice in the betting because the race had 12 starters. Go Dick Go was the third choice at 8.10 to 1.
