                                IN MEMORIAM
  Charlene Kay Bowman 8/14/1944- 9/14/2019
Charlene Kay Bowman, age 75, a resident of Belen, NM, formally of Bosque Farms, lost her battle with cancer passing away peacefully at her home on Septem-
ber 14, 2019, surrounded by family and friends. She was born Aug. 14, 1944, in Ely, Nevada, the daughter of Rose and Her-
man (HB) Doerfer. Charlene Bowman is survived by her loving husband of 44 years, Dr. Marvin M. Bowman, DVM. She was
a wonderful wife, partner and friend and her guidance, humor, wisdom, and love
will be deeply missed. Charlene, while not having children of her own, is mourned by many people she shepherded as if she were an adopted Mother and who will attest
that she was the “Best Mom”. She was an excellent, avid horse woman spending her life breeding, training, riding, and show-
ing world quality Appaloosa and Quarter Horses, while teaching others how to do
so. Charlene was highly regarded within
the horse industry. She was a member of multiple local and national horse and dog associations. Charlene was a source of rescue for many unwanted, abused, and abandoned animals, working tirelessly in her local com- munities to help take care of and place them in good homes. Her favorite dog breed was the Australian Shepherd, working hard to promote the quality of the breed. In lieu of flowers, Charlene and her families wishes are to please make a donation to an animal shelter of your choice in memory of her.
Patricia “Patti” Shirley 9/1/1945 – 9/15/2019
Patricia K. Shirley passed away unexpectedly at her Tucson home on Sept. 15, 2019. She was born Sept. 1, 1945 in the state of Washington and moved to Phoenix at a young age. She attended college in Phoenix and taught school there before moving to Tucson. On July 4, 1976 she married Dr. Dale Shirley, a dentist. In addition to manag- ing the dental clinic in Tucson, Patti trained their Thoroughbred race horses which they raced in Arizona and New Mexico. Patti loved horses – in fact she loved all animals. Since Dale’s death, Patti helped to man-
age Rillito Race Track through 2014 then devoted all her time to the Equine Encore Foundation (50l (3) C) – a retirement home for Thoroughbred race horses which she and Dale supported. Patti was loved by all. In
lieu of flowers, please donate to the Equine Encore Foundation at 6865 N. Nanini Drive, Tucson, AZ 85704.
