  EVACUEE
Evacuee, a dark bay or brown son
of Abstraction, broke his maiden in the September 22, $196,632 New Mexico State Fair Thoroughbred Futurity (R) for state-bred 2-year-olds at Albuquerque Downs.
Trained by Todd Fincher for owners R.D. Hubbard, Paul Blanchard, and Doug Benson, Evacuee covered 6 furlongs in 1:10.96, and his margin of victory was a neck from 8-5 favorite Attilianno. Alfredo Juarez Jr. rode the gelding, who was scoring his first win in three outs.
Evacuee was bred by Fred Alexander,
Brad King, and Todd Fincher. The gelding
is one of 18 winners from 35 starters sired
by Abstraction, a 9-year-old Grade 3-placed Kentucky-bred son of the A.P. Indy stallion Pulpit. Raced in 2013, Abstraction won two of four starts, including the $75,750 Federico Tesio Stakes at Pimlico, and he earned $86,945.
Abstraction has sired the earners of $1.071 million from two crops, including multiple stakes winner Hustle Up. A half brother to stakes winner Marion Ravenwood, the stallion is owned by a partnership and stands for a $3,500 fee at Doubletree Farm at Hobbs, New Mexico.
Evacuee is one of two winners from as many starters produced by Thibodaux, a winning and multiple stakes-placed daughter of the Gilded Time stallion Early Flyer. The gelding’s
second dam, the winning Texas Glitter mare Annis, foaled five winners from as many start- ers, including Proceed, a half brother to to Thibodaux who won six stakes in New Mexico from 2013-15, and Worthington, a half brother to Thibodaux who won the 2011 Minstrel Stakes at Louisiana Downs.
Evacuee’s third dam, the winning Montbrook mare Baybrooke, produced Cinnamon Road, a Grade 3-placed half brother to Annis who won the ’09 Needles Stakes at Calder Racecourse near Miami, Florida. The gelding traces back to his fourth dam, So Easily, a daughter of the Groshawk stallion Superbity and half sister to multiple Grade 2 winner Foresta and Grade 3 winner Wising Up.
The $98,316 winner’s share of the New Mexico State Fair Thoroughbred Futurity purse increased Evacuee’s earnings to $103,126, all of which has been banked at Albuquerque Downs.
Evacuee was sent to post at odds of 6-1 and returned a $15 win mutuel. Attilianno com- pleted a $2 exacta payoff of $47.40. Indy Way, an 87-1 longshot, finished third, 3 1/2 lengths behind Evacuee, to complete a $1,211.20 ($1) trifecta.
Tom T Who finished fourth, four lengths behind Evacuee. Unconscious Power, Chary Ride, Tutta Terlingua, Reggie J, Wiskey Crown, Lariat, and Moro Man completed the official
order of finish. Qualifier Mail Man M G was listed by the Equibase chart as a trainer scratch.
Attilianno is a homebred dark bay or brown son of the Forest Wildcat stallion Attila’s Storm campaigned by Pierre and Leslie Amestoy of Albuquerque. The first starter produced by
the winning homebred Survivor Slew mare Appelina, the gelding has won two of five starts and has banked $57,061.
Indy Way races for Helen Nave, who also bred the dark bay or brown Abstraction geld- ing. One of three starters foaled by Swapping Lanes and a half brother to 2017 C.O. “Ken” Kendrick Memorial Stakes (R) winner Comics Cashway, Indy Way has earned $25,550 from six outs.
