SINGLES CRUISE
by Danny Camp
Singles Cruise dominated the July 8 trials and was the fast- est qualifier going into the $15,313
Jerry Stojan Memorial Futurity at Evergreen Park on July 27.
In the trials, Singles Cruise made a wire-to-wire run, crossing the wire on top with a neck margin of victory.
His :15.660 earned her a career- high 95 speed index in just her second start. In her maiden run, she was fifth in the All Canadian Futurity at Lethbridge.
In The Jerry Stojan Memorial Futurity finals, the brown filly got away from the 2-post on top and led at every call, crossing the wire first by 1/2-length in :15.680 to earn a 94 speed index.
The filly added $15,313 to her bankroll and her race record is now 3-2(1)-0-0. Alejandro Hernandez was handling the reins and made a great ride.
The filly was the fastest quali- fier from two trials held on July 8. The final was originally scheduled
for July 22, but was canceled due to bad weather.
Singles Cruise is owned by Barry and Janice Sather. Janice also trains the filly.
Bred in California by Steve D. Burns DVM, Singles Cruise is out of lightly raced Going Single. She has produced 100% earn-
ers from four starters, including Evergreen Park Derby Challenge winner Snowboundbeast, who set a New Track Record for 400 yards and is also multiple graded stakes placed. Singles Cruise
is her second stakes winner. Snowboundbeast is her top money earner.
Special Corona Wave (Wave Carver-Special Corona) ran a steady and even race down the middle of the track to pocket second place money. His team includes owners Bugle Hill Stable and Trackontwo Stable and Wayne Pidhirney. Trainer Les Webb had Juan Apango in the irons. The gelding was third in his trial as well as his debut.
Ifarm (Coronado Cartel-Avery Hope) overcame a bad break by hustling up to third place. The brown gelding is owned by Buckey and Beverly Stockwell. Buckey also trains Ifarm. Blandford Stewart had the riding assignment. Ifarm is still
a maiden, but finished third in his debut at Rocky Mountain Turf Club.
Timbersknightryder (First Timber- Sparkling Hy) finished fourth and was followed by Mals Sweet Jess (One Sweet Jess-First A Princess),
O Kingsley (First Timber-Burners Beauty) and Zoomn Wave (Wave Carver-SLS Room To Zoom). Hortons Kid Dynamite scratched.
