Harrah’s Entertainment Futurity-G3
TRUMP MY RECORD
by Michael Compton
The precocious colt Trump My Record ran his perfect record to 2-for-2 with a game victory in the $254,070 Harrah’s Entertainment Futurity-G3 at Louisiana Downs on March 20.
A first-crop son of Apollitical Blood, Trump My Record left the gate a step slow
and raced in third position early. Piloted by Eddie Sanchez, Trump My Record discovered his best stride in time, though, surging late in the 300-yard fixture to score by a neck over stablemate Baby Licious at the finish. It was just a nose back to AMS Service’s Giasfastdash, and Braggin With A B was a neck behind that one in the dramatic blanket finish.
Trump My Record, the fastest qualifier from the March 2 trials and the second wager- ing choice in the main event, stopped the timer in :15.307 and earned a speed index of 102 for the win. He earned $114,332 for the score.
“He is so professional, but today he was moving in the gates and didn’t break that well,” Sanchez said. “The filly was ahead of us, but my colt did not quit, and I never gave up. I was relieved that we won the race.”
Owned by Cruz E. Nava and trained by his brother-in-law Arturo Davila III, Trump My Record was a $10,700 purchase at the TQHA Yearling Sale.
“It was an awesome race,” Davila said. “Trump My record didn’t break as well today as he did in the trial but came run- ning and got the job done. We were also pretty high on our filly, and at the 200-yard mark, I thought she had it.
“He’s paid into the TQHA
Sale Futurity at Retama
Park,” added Davila, who is
considering supplementing
him to the Grade 1 Heritage
Place Futurity at Remington Park. “But if he comes out of this race in good order, we will pay the supplement.”
Bred in Texas by Fulton Quien Sabe Rances LP, Trump My Record is produced out of win- ner Breck N Records, a half-sister to Man Who Wouldbe King, who placed third in the 2011 Gillespie County Fair Futurity-G3 as well as in the 2013 King William Handicap. The mare has produced 100% ROM/money earners from two starters. Trump My Record is her first stakes winner and top earner.
His second dam is Thrill And Grace, winner of the 2007 Harrah’s Entertainment Derby-G2 and second in the 2008 New Mexico Distaff Challenge-G3.
“We love Apollitical Blood,” Davila related. “When we saw the colt at the TQHA Yearling Sale, we loved everything about him. He looked like he would have potential.”
Davila also saddled Trump My Record’s stable- mate Baby Licious (FDD Dynasty-Da Licious), who won her trial wire-to-wire by 1/2-length and finished
second in the finals under Raul Ramirez for owner Javier De Los Santos.
Giasfastdash (Heza Fast Dash-Miss Game Tee) and Rolando Pina were third for owner AMS Service and trainer Joe Davis. The filly was second in her trial heat.
Braggin With A B (Freighttrain B-Braggin N Dashin), Tressels Going Grand (FDD Going Grand-Tres Seis Diamond), Seis
Train B (Freighttrain B-Legendary Seis),
PYC Lovestruck (PYC Paint Your Wagon- Lovethewayyoulie), Apolitical Xpression (Freighttrain B-Apolitical Pac), Th La Jolla Seis (Tres Seis-Intotemptation) and Big Daddy Jewel (Big Daddy Cartel-Jewels Fortune) completed the order of finish.
