QUEEN FOR CASH
by John Moorehouse
Queen For Cash ApHC ran away with the $15,800 Henry Bowlan Paint & Appaloosa Memorial on Oct. 2 at Will Rogers Downs and
notched her 4th straight win, all in stakes races. The five-year-old mare now has 12 wins in 25 total outs for owner/breeder Gary Vaughan. Nine
of those victories have come in stakes company. The $6,426 first-place prize from this race increased her total earnings to $161,677.
The heavy pre-race favorite at odds of about 1-3, Queen For Cash left little doubt in this one. The mare broke from the No. 5 gate, led by a head at the first call, then exploded away from any would-be rivals to win by 1 1/2-lengths.
Prepped by Jesus Ruiz, Queen For Cash completed her 300-yard trip in :15.345 for a 102 speed index. Rolando Raudales had the riding assignment.
Vaughan bred Queen For Cash out of Champion and 2-time bronze medallion winner Ivory Queen ApHC, a 2009 mare whom Vaughan also owns. She has produced three winners from
4 starters, including stakes placed Emerald Coast.
La Totuga APHA (CRM Livewire-Goldie Will Make It QH) placed second by a neck for Randy Chavez. Trainer Ray Enlow also bred the 2019 filly, who had Antonio Perez in the irons.
WL You Aint No Cowboy APHA (Painted Turnpike-Texas Fourwinds), a 17-1 longshot, hit the board in third for owners Wade and Susan Leggett. The Noe Rios trainee had Randy Vega in the irons.
The remaining order of finish, Turnpikes Judy APHA (Barracuda-Wagon On) was fourth, followed by Mammy Jammer APHA (CRM Livewire-Dashin Do) and Cowgirl Cartel APHA (Dash Master Jess QH-Camo Cowgirl).
